Maureen M. McMahon has lived in the greater Annapolis area since her teens. Although the arts have always been an integral part of her family life, McMahon chose the field of education as her professional home, an arena in which she has worked for over 25 years. She began her teaching career at St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis and eventually taught at Northeast and Old Mill High Schools in Anne Arundel County before moving to work in higher education in California. A few years ago, McMahon returned to Maryland with her husband Tim and two children, Hugh and Molly, to rejoin Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), first as their STEM Coordinator and now as Deputy Superintendent for Academics & Strategic Initiatives.
Dr. McMahon has had the pleasure of working closely with the Maryland Hall to launch the Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Programs at Bates Middle School, Brooklyn Park Middle School, and Annapolis and Broadneck high schools. McMahon is dedicated to building and sustaining high-quality, engaging arts programming for our preK-12th-grade citizens, the very young people who we will rely on to sustain the arts in our community into our future.
