Tania Laden is the cofounder and Executive Director of LivelyHoods. She earned her B.S. from Stanford University, where she graduated with a degree in Science, Technology and Society with a focus on Management Science & Engineering. Tania joined LivelyHoods at the end of 2010, bringing her global business acumen and experience to the organization. Prior to LivelyHoods, Tania worked as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley and as a Business & Technology Analyst at EZLearn, an educational technology start-up in Brazil. After serving as an adviser and volunteer for two years with KITO International, Tania moved to Kenya to build and manage iSmart, the first sales agent network created by LivelyHoods. Tania is recognized as a 2011 Mara Foundation Entrepreneur Fellow and one of PBS Newshour’s Agents of Change.

LivelyHoods is a start-up social enterprise with the mission to create livelihoods for youth in urban slums so they can actualize their potential. To achieve this, they have built a sales network that trains and employs youth to market and sell life-improving goods, from solar powered lamps to clean burning stoves, in hard-to-reach slum communities.  To date, LivelyHoods has employed over 100 youth sales representatives who have sold thousands of goods in their community. Sales representatives make an impact in their community, earn a livelihood and gain employable skills that will increase their lifetime earnings. LivelyHoods has been recognized with 8 awards and fellowships for social innovation and has been profiled by media outlets like the Guardian and PBS. Their vision is to employ thousands of youth to deliver life-improving goods to the 1.8 million people living in the Nairobi slums.
