Our world is so full of images that in a very real sense we’ve all become “visual learners.” It’s impossible for most of us to imagine a day without sight, and yet 1.3 billion people live with some form of visual impairment. India has the largest blind population in the world and 80% of these cases are either preventable or curable.

Murali Krishnamurthy— cofounder and executive chairman of Sankara Eye Foundation USA—is a man determined to eradicate such blindness in India. Sankara brings quality and timely eye care to the doorsteps of rural India through its award-winning Gift of Vision outreach program. As of December 2018, the Sankara Eye Foundation has performed nearly two million free eye surgeries in India and has ambitious plans for the future.
